Description

SPSR stratified buffer storage tank – Efficient storage solution for heating, solar and solid fuel systems

Product overview

The SPSR stratified buffer storage tank is a robustly constructed hot water storage tank for heating systems, solar thermal systems, and combined heat and power plants. It combines a stable tank design with integrated stratification technology and a permanently welded smooth-tube heat exchanger, thus ensuring high system efficiency and reliable stratification of the return flows.

Construction and materials

The tank and smooth-tube heat exchanger are made of high-quality S235JRG2 steel according to DIN 4753 and EN 12897. The interior is left untreated, while the outer shell is primed; the tank rests securely on a base ring. The tank is designed for a maximum operating pressure of 5 bar and features two ports for electric heating elements.

Layer technology and heat exchangers

For optimized stratification, stratification channels are integrated into the storage tank, and a stratification plate is welded in. These components reduce mixing and improve temperature stratification, thereby increasing the usable heat output. The permanently welded-in smooth-tube heat exchanger ensures efficient heat exchange for solar and heating circuits.

Connections and ease of assembly

The 90° angled socket arrangement simplifies the assembly and connection of multiple buffer tanks. This enables compact system layouts and easy system couplings. The arrangement of the connections and the base ring further simplify installation and subsequent maintenance.

Insulation options – EPS AirPor® grey

EPS AirPor® grey polystyrene foam insulation is available in 100 mm (efficiency class C) and 130 mm (efficiency class B) thicknesses. The insulation combines EPS with an additional fleece layer and an admixture of graphite nanoparticles, which significantly reduce heat loss through increased heat reflection.

Thanks to its lightweight, precisely fitting design, the insulation is quick to install, mechanically robust, and 100% recyclable. The overall insulation thickness, along with additional bottom and top insulation, ensures significant energy savings during operation.

Insulation option – PU super-rigid foam

The 150 mm thick PU super rigid foam insulation (for 600–1000 l storage tanks) combines excellent insulation performance with a PS jacket in RAL 9006 and a clamping strip for easy installation. A 10 mm polyester fiber fleece prevents convection losses at the tank walls, lid, and joints.

With a thermal conductivity of approximately 0.023 W/mK and efficiency class A, this insulation offers the best insulation performance in the range and is also recyclable and skin-friendly.

Technical specifications and equipment

The SPSR is equipped with stratification channels, a stratification plate, and a permanently installed smooth-tube heat exchanger. Further features include a raw interior, primed exterior, two sockets for electric heating elements, and design for an operating pressure of up to 5 bar.

Advantages and areas of application

The combination of targeted layering technology, high-quality steel construction, and effective insulation increases the efficiency of heating systems and reduces heat loss. Applications include heating systems, solid fuel boilers, solar thermal systems, combined heat and power plants, and combined energy systems that rely on reliable temperature stratification.

Environment, safety and standards

The materials used are environmentally friendly and largely recyclable. The insulation materials meet common fire protection requirements (DIN 4102 B2) and thermal conductivity requirements according to DIN EN 12667, meaning that the storage unit meets high safety and environmental standards.

Selection, assembly instructions and service

Choose the appropriate storage capacity and insulation option according to your system requirements; the standardized socket arrangement facilitates integration. For optimal performance, professional installation by trained personnel and consideration of the connection configurations during system planning are recommended.
